1st Anniversary; Day Trip #1

Hey Loves,

If you follow me on instagram you know that me & the guy celebrated our 1st year anniversary as a couple. SO because he's super awesome he planned 2 amazing local day trips for us. I know I posted pictures on my instagram but those didn't do either trip any justice. So I decided to post them on here. Let's check them out.

On Saturday, he surprised me with a trip up to Brotherhood; America's Oldest Winery (which is now in its 175 year of operation) for some wine tasting & dinner. As a part of the tasting we took a tour of the winery to learn a little about the winery & its history. I have to be honest I really wasn't paying attention because I was so busy taking pictures. One of his gifts to me was a new 50mm lens for my camera so you all know I was snapping away the whole time.

I'm not very familiar with wine beyond the ever popular Barefoot Moscato so this trip was as much educational as it was fun.

We all know that wine is meant to ferment and what not, but interestingly enough a lot of their wines sit in these barrels for 3 or sometimes 5 years before they even see a bottle.

After our tour, it s was time for some tasting. You taste 10 different wines, 5 dry & 5 sweet. While you're tasting you do get a bit of education on how the wine is made, history behind the wine and what food is best paired with that particular wine.

I didn't get pictures of that because I really wanted to be in the moment of tasting. But I will say I has a blast. If you ever have the chance to make it up to the Hudson Valley in NY this a trip you should definitely make. You can opt to take the tour or if you don't want to do that, you can just pay to taste. And if you end up liking any of the wines that you taste (which you will) you can also buy by the bottle!

It's an awesome couple activity or you can make it a group thing as well. Also if you so choose, they also do weddings. In fact there was a wedding party there when me and the guy arrived for our tour. Be sure to head to the Brotherhood Winery website for more information!

Stick around for our 2nd day trip to Fishkills Farm for some apple picking. Until next time loves.

xoxo
Shay

Congratulations on celebrating your one year anniversary! This looks like something the bf and I would enjoy, we love wine and spirits, hehe. We rarely do anything to celebrate our anniversary, maybe we should start! :-)
