Hey Loves,

It's that time again! If you've followed me for the last 3 years, you know that every year on this day; February 21st  I make a point to wear an all black ensemble. Why you may ask? Because today marks the 49th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X. Check out my posts from 2013 and 2012 (By Any Means All Black and Wearing All Black)
This is a post I look forward to every year. I always want to do something different, something fierce, definitely something on trend. An all black outfit is always on trend, always makes you feel super chic. I know I did with this look.

I got this romper from Forever 21 and was struggling for a way to wear it that I liked. I actually wore this look during fashion week to the Zana Bayne FW14 show. So I had to recreate it for this day.

Found this baby in vintage store this pass weekend while up in Boston. I was hunting for a black trench coat, be when I saw this beautiful cape coat I didn't care how much it cost, I had to make it mine. It ended up costing me only $5.99! And to be real this thing keeps me so warm. To the point that I was sweating while shooting.

This is also an amazing post because this is the 1st time I am using my NEW CANON T5i that I got for my birthday. I was able to really play around with different settings and all that.

I'm sure you're wondering why I do this every year. To me Malcolm X was and still is a figure that stands for self love, self esteem, working on freeing your own mind. And I think that mentality works not just for civil rights, but for us who are on a mission to love our bodies beyond the societal structure. Though he was taken from this earth on that day February 21st 1965, his legacy wasn't.

Be sure to register for my Sweat N' Style Party on Eventbrite. Until next time loves.

xoxo
Shay
