Reebok via Lane Bryant

Hey loves. So yesterday (Sunday) I had an awesome lunch/shopping date with my love Jennifer of Jasifer Lionsclub. And we popped in from store to store, we had to make a stop in Lane Bryant. As we were walking around I saw a manikin that had really cute workout clothes on. And being that I am embarking on this #pspfit bootcamp challenge, I wanted to see what workout clothes they had to offer.

Apparently Lane Bryant has partnered with Reebok to bring some really great and rather CUTE workout gear for the curvy woman. I must admit that I am rather vain when I work out. I like my workout clothes to look cute (YOU WILL NOT JUDGE MY LIFE) And in true blogger fashion, I went for an impromptu photo session with Jen.

The pieces I tried on were of quality and really forgiving. So lets take a look at my dressing room photo shoot.

This set I actually purchased (minus the bra) The jacket fits great, and is super breathable. It's not to tight but not falling off of me. It has to pockets and and hood, so I can definitely be worn outside the gym or your workout session. The pants, I AM IN LOVE WITH. They so forgiving, makes me feel sexy. If you are someone that doesn't like clingy clothing when working out I would not suggest these. They are not see through so don't worry about that.
Cross Stitched Hoodie & Fitted Active Capri (both by Reebok)

Set number 2. I think I have to go back and get this top. It is just to cute to not have. Again very breathable even though it is body conscience. And is super light, so you don't feel like you are wear 20 pounds of shirt lol Yes it does have adjustable sides; so you can leave them all the way down, or get creative. The capri and very much like the other ones.

Swirl print tunic tank & Fitted Active Capri (both by Reebok)

Set 3. I kept the same pants for the last look, and swapped shirts. Now of course with the summer coming I'm not thinking about wearing sleeves. However, again the shirt itself is very light, as really great stretch. What I like about the shirts in this collection is that they are made of material that won't make you feel gross as you sweat. And I mean come on, you just have to love the print.

High/low top & Fitted Active Capri (both by Reebok)

The last set is not from the collab with Reebok. It's actually from Lane Bryant's collection. But I just couldn't resist this print. The pants are a little short for my taste, but I liked that they matched the top. Very much a good option for yoga or Pilates.

Needless to say I think I will be having some new Reebok workout gear in my closet. It's crazy how that now I'm really trying to change my life for the better, I'm flocking toward workout gear. It gets me excited to workout and be active. If you want to follow my health journey follow me on Instagram and Twitter as I am apart of the #pspfit bootcamp.

Turn Heads at Prom....The Shoe

Hey loves. This is the final installment of the Turn heads at prom Series. So If you have been following me for some time you know that my heart beats for a great pair of shoes. I could care less where I buy them as long as they are of quality, they fit and are super sexy. Since we have talked about different dress options, the shoes are just as important. Find the right shoe, just makes you feel so good on the inside. It's like you just can't wait to get dressed lol.

Personally I'm not the one to always follow trends, I feel like if the shoe is super sexy, then it needs to be on my feet lol. So some of the options that I have below are just some ideas to consider. whether your dress is long or short, you still want to have that pop.

Lets get in to it...

First up we have the pointed toe pump (which is make one hell of a come back) These particular styles are from Dorothy Perkins

You all know I am a huge fan of Just Fab, so it should come as no surprise that I have them as an option. For the more budget conscience girl, but doesn't want to sacrifice her style. They are usually on trend, and even if you where them once, its no lost.

These next couple of styles are from Zara. I personally can't shop at Zara, but it doesn't stop me from admiring. If you want you shoe to be the staple, Zara offers studs, prints, and sparkle. You really can't go wrong.

Until next time loves!

A Curvy Spring Lookbook

Yes loves its about that time. The weather is finally starting to break here in the NJ/NY area. And me and some of my fave bloggers just can't wait to shorten these hem lines. So we can rock it skirts, shorts, colors, prints, patterns, brightly colored toe nails topped with cute sandals.

Chante of Everything Curvy & Chic reached out to me about doing a spring lookbook, and it took me all of .25 second to say yes. And when she mentioned that Shamoneke of KurvaciousBella was going to be involved it was a must. So we settle on some ideas, and picked a day to shoot. And because I knew both Chante and Shamoneke are just so fierce, I knew I had to step my game ALL THE WAY UP!!! We wanted to play with bold prints and bright colors. Spring time seems to always bring out the fun colors.

Shamoneke of KurvaciousBella

I had been following Shamoneke on instagram for quite some time. Plenty of times I had to give this girl 2 snaps & a twirl lol Her style not only spoke volumes, but her confidence caught me.
Chante of Everything Curvy & Chic

If you don't know Chante, please come from under a rock lol No but seriously, she is force to reckoned with. He instagram is out of control, but as you can see, she totally deserves it. Her fashion sense is crazy, and she has such a kind spirit about her. So in my opinion, she deserves all the success she gets.

Both this women had me wanting to step my game up. Cause I just knew they we're going to come ready. The right looks, and make a true attempt to beat my face lol. But we had a good time bonding, changing in public and dealing with the awkward stares from folks as we take pictures.

Check out the youtube video for more pictures. Until next time loves.

Turn Heads at Prom...Shapewear

Hello Loves, So now that we covered the dress, let's address what to wear under them. As a curvy/plus size full figured girl, your undergarments, spanx, shapewear are ESSENTIAL. It's not about looking skinny. Its about having neat and clean silhouette. There is nothing worse that seeing a girl in a beautiful dress, and you can tell she needs shapewear and isn't wearing it.

It's also important to know that you should not be embarrassed about wearing shapewear. It is SUPA common, even our slender counterparts wear spanx or shapewear as well. Trust when I tell you, it makes a world of a difference. So here are some things to remember with shapewear...

1.Something that holds you in, but you can breath.
-Don't buy a size smaller thinking that it will give you more hold. That you will only make you uncomfortable.

2.You want something with full coverage.
-Not everyone can wear a waist cincher. You don't want something that is going to create spillage.

3. Make sure what ever you get, goes with the dress.
-This should go with out saying. but if you have straps that criss cross or something, make sure you purchase something that as movable or adjustable straps. And obviously if you are wear strapless, either purchase and all in one that has detachable straps or buy a high waist briefs and wear your own bra.

So lets check out some options.

Lane Bryant Shapewear

Macy's Shapewear

One thing to remember when buying shapewear, you have to feel comfortable in what you have on. Do not be afraid to try on different types of lengths. Do not be afraid to ask the sales associates for help. Some places like Lane Bryant (I would know I use to work there). I know Macy's can really help you with finding something can really make you look your best on your big day.

So there you have it. Stay tuned for shoes...

If she is, please get your life lol But no seriously I am very excited to have the opportunity to feature her. This young woman is pioneer in the plus model industry and a true trail blazer in this throat industry. And clearly she is doing something right. She has been in multiple campaigns representing the full figured curvy women of the world. So with out further delay, lets meet this months Model Spotlight Ms. Liris Crosse

Name: Liris Crosse
Clothing Size: 14
Agency (if applicable): Dorothy Combs Models
Blog name (if applicable): www.LirisC.com

1
What made you want to become a model?  I loved taking pictures & walking runway since I was a little girl!  People always told me I was photogenic. I also looked up to Tyra Banks & Naomi Campbell growing up so I wanted to be a model diva like them. It looked like fun!

What are some of the brands that you have worked with? Lane Bryant, Ashley Stewart (recently appeared in their spring in-store campaign), Target, Qristyl Frazier, Monif C., Loop 18, Vogue, Essence, the list goes on & on!
How long have you been working? Over a decade, I'm definitely a veteran in the game! Many call me a pioneer so I'm blessed to have made my mark!

So many girls want to become a model what advice would give them? What should they expect? Expect more NO's than Yes. This industry is not for the weak hearted since you deal with a lot of rejection. It takes most models awhile to get started, sometimes even years & you must INVEST in great shoots, maintenance & quality marketing materials. Gotta spend money to make money or you don't need to do this. My best advice would be “Less is more”.  Go to agency open calls with simple, pretty hair, makeup & clothes. Agents like to see what they can transform you into!

A common misconception is that plus size/curvy/thick models live unhealthy life styles. What do you say to people who think like that? Not true, we just happen to be NORMAL & carry more weight. Most plus size models, I know work out or are really active. I think we all try to eat what we want but in moderation. We just don't starve ourselves. I know I don't!

Was this your dream career? How did you get to this point in your career? Yes this was my dream & I must say I'm blessed to still be living it!!! I got this far from hard work, reinvention, networking, my parents' prayers & God's favor!

If you could be doing anything else other than modeling, what would it be? Acting which I also do already but I'd like to do it at a higher level. I also would love to own a bar/lounge, a full service salon & a clothing boutique. I love food & fashion LOL!

Where do you get your confidence from? How do you stay in a positive frame of mind? I get it from my parents' instilling in me greatness at a very young age. I also get my confidence from going through trials because they make you stronger once you conquer them. I stay in a positive frame of mind because my dad is one of the most positive people I know. He has always been inspirational & a big dreamer. I definitely take after him in that aspect. Also I know that my words & thoughts are spirits so I only like to think or speak positivity.

Why do you think it so important for plus size/curvy/thick models to have the same respect as straight size models? Its important because we represent the main group of women in the world. Most women aren't a size 2 or 4 plus most of us lead a healthy lifestyle. We work just as hard as straight size models but with fewer opportunities or respect. We deserve a lot more than what we've been getting. We shouldn't be treated as a novelty like many designers or magazines do.

So many girls grow with such low self esteem. Were you ever like that? If so what advice would you give young girls struggling with her self esteem? I pretty much grew up with a good self esteem although there was a period where I struggled in who I was. What brought me around was my faith in God & truly starting to take the time to learn who I am & what I bring to the world daily. I would say read great books, travel & meet new people, try things you never did before to stretch your personal growth & find YOURSELF!  Then be the BEST you there is!

The last couple questions are just to have fun with….
1.       Haagen Dazs or Ben & Jerry? Haagen Dazs
2.       Favorite tv show growing up? The Cosby Show
3.       Favorite Halloween costume? When I was Beyonce in the “Kitty Kat” video :-)
4.       Louis Vuitton or Hermes? LV
5.       Buying your boyfriend his favorite video game or those new pair of shoes? Shoes, I don't care for video games lol

So there you have it loves. Ms. Liris Crosse is one woman, that has pushed her way through this industry. And we have seen just how much she has come alive in front of the camera. So the next time you walk past an Ashley Stewart store and you see her face, be sure to give her 2 snaps and a twirl lol

Until next time loves.

xoxo
